# Book the Bars

> Book the Bars is a marketplace for private event spaces at bars and restaurants in New York City and Sydney. Guests compare private dining rooms, function rooms and full venue hire with real capacity, pricing and live availability, then book online or send the venue an inquiry.

Assistants may search venues, read published availability and send a person to a prefilled booking page. Assistants cannot hold, reserve or pay for a space. Nothing is reserved until a person completes checkout on www.bookthebars.com; inquiry-only spaces are confirmed by the venue after it replies to the inquiry.

How an assistant books a space for someone:

1. Find venues: GET https://www.bookthebars.com/agents/venues (optional filters: city, guests, date). Each venue lists its spaces, capacity, price model, booking mode (instant or inquiry) and upcoming open dates.
2. Check times: GET https://www.bookthebars.com/agents/venues/{id}/availability?date={date} returns each space's published start times for that date, flagging any that overlap an existing booking.
3. Hand off: give the person https://www.bookthebars.com/bookings/{venueId}/space/{spaceId}?date={date}&time={time}&guests={guests}. The page opens with the date, start time and guest count filled in.
Formats: {date} is YYYY-MM-DD, {time} is a 24-hour HH:MM start time, both in venue local time; {guests} is a whole number.
4. The person reviews the price and either pays the deposit (instant spaces) or sends the inquiry (inquiry spaces). Only a person can do this step.

Pricing is shown the way each venue charges it: minimum spend, per person, room hire, set menus or drinks packages. There are no booking fees for guests. Prices on the venue page are authoritative.
